Meet Miko Covington
The Hottest Hostess In Urban Lit
Indeed, I have truly found her to be as colorful an individual as her photos are..
Meet Tamiko Covington whom I found to be one of the most obnoxious, most conceited, and hateful person on the planet. Yes, I said it and I mean it! Well, at least that’s what I imagined being the stereotypical view of her until we actually met.
You see, I was once considered a heartthrob back in my day, and seeing Miko steal my thunder with her natural good looks bought out the E.N.V.Y. Monster in me. Evil, Nasty, Voracious, and the You need to step Back Look out of me. We all know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and yes, truthfully speaking it’s far more than being on the surface. It goes much further than the skin deep analysis as well. It’s about character which Miko certainly has a lot of, and much more.
Going by Miko for short I found her to be a very pleasant and kind heart individual with a true understanding of what the publishing industry should be like. Being married with four kids, and currently living Rome, Ga. she discovered she had a passion for reading in 2010. She describes herself as being ” a stay at home wife and mother. I began reading initially to occupy my free time . I later found that the doors reading has open are in credible! The passion I have for reading has now, has become a part of my everyday life.”
What Miko describes above is the beginning of a career which has led to many opportunities mostly driven by the passion for the Urban genre, and helping others to achieve success. She stated during a phone conversation about her start by saying, “I started by reviewing books on Amazon, and found my reviews was quite helpful to others through Amazon’s automated system. Later I started a Facebook group page called Let’s Share Urban Fiction in 2013. That page allowed me to get closeup, and personal, with established, inspiring authors. As a book critic I’ve always striven to give my honest opinion and be up front, and because of that many authors have found it to be quite useful. For example, Shameek Speight and I have been friends on Facebook since I first read Child of a Crackhead One. I was always a fan of his work, along with a few other authors. In January 2014, Shameek approached me to become an administrator for True Glory Publications. Since then I’ve started doing book discussions for his group page, daily hot topics, and promoting different books from various authors. The opportunity has been amazing, and is truly a blessing to me. Being the group administrator comes with the responsibilities of making and creating ideals, monitoring events…, and adding new members. I also communicate daily with numerous authors and fans. I have became inspired through this journey to become a future writer, and I also would like to help Urban fiction as a whole.”
With that said and the ENVY still boiling Tamiko, I’m making a comeback so you better watch your askmewhat! What does that mean exactly? I don’t know, but you better watch it nonetheless. With no further adieu, I give you Miko Covington y’all.
This dreamy pic bought out the E.N.V.Y. in me …LOL!
My Interview With Miko Covington: The Flametress
DIONCHEESE.COM: You are from Atlanta I hear. Do you consider that to be a blessing or a curse?
MIKO M Covington: Actually I like to call myself a Bama Peach, Originally from Alabama, but I have been a resident of Georgia for about 6 years. It’s a blessing, I have really enjoyed the transition.
DC: OK ma’am, let’s cut the bullsh*t! Are you F**kin crazy, cause I am?
Miko: Yes, as a matter of fact I am crazy, but not in the sense you are. If you’re talking Urban Fiction. Yes, I’m crazy about the genre, but never cookoo. Does that sufffice sir? LOL!
DC: You know what, I sincerely apologize for my E.N.V.Y. outburst it was uncalled for would you like to continue?
Miko: LOL! Yes, I don’t mind I can relate. Let’s continue shall we.
DC: When did you first come into contact with Urban Fiction? And, do you consider yourself to be infected by its viral impact?
Miko: I first came in contact with Urban Fiction in March 2010, my best friend Monique introduced me to Poison by KD Harris. And yes I am very much infected but that’s a good thing! (wink)
DC: I see that you have a book discussion group how many members do you currently have, and is it an open group? If not how
does one become a member?
Miko: I’ve been hosting the group for about 5 months now. Let’s Share Urban Fiction has approximately 200 members and growing pretty rapidly. It’s an open group anyone can become a member by going to “Let’s Share Urban Fiction” on Facebook.
DC: How long have you been hosting your forum? And how is your discussion group different from others?
Miko: I feel my group is more family oriented, I have a special bond with each author and reader. We have lots of fun with daily hot topics. Everyone is allowed to be themselves without judgement or discrimination.
DC: Is there anything that you wish more authors would do when it comes to appearing on your forum?
Miko: I wish different authors and publishers would come together and have discussions about collaborations, promoting, and book seminars. There are so many talented authors in this genre, and it would be great for fans to see us moving as one big team!
DC: How did you come up with the idea, and what is the most frustrating moment that you recall?
Miko: Well I first came up with the ideal as I notice all the different book groups. I felt I had the power and the state of mind to contribute back to urban fiction. So I just created the group. Best decision I could have made, now I’m having lots of fun doing it.
DC: How many authors do you interview on a monthly basis?
Miko: I interview 4-5 authors a month.
DC: Are you conceited? I mean you do look nice and yes, I’m jealous even though I am a guy because some of my friends have said that your face is prettier than mine. Would you believe it if I were to tell you that I once had traffic backed up for five miles because one time I lifted up my jeans and showed part of my calf? Do you think you could top that? LOL!
Miko: OMG, no, no , and no LOL! I am far from conceited. I do value my appearance I try to keep myself up to par. And you did what….hahahahaha!!! Show them calves then LOL. I don’t know if I can beat that. Well I once won a dancing contest for concert tickets. That’s a hidden talent no one would guess I had. 😉
DC: Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought I’m Miko Covington…bitches let’s get this show on the road?
Miko: ROTF! (Rolling On The Floor) No I have not sir!! Beyonce got enough of that Bow Down Bitches going on. So I just say, “Let’s get the party started, time to make that money, Twerk Time!”
DC: I hear that you have a book coming out would you please elaborate on that? Is it Urban Fiction, and when will it be coming out?
Miko: I have a lil’ something, something, I am working on. Yes it’s urban fiction and released date is TBA.
DC: Will it be self-published or are you signed?
Miko: Idk, and no I’m not currently signed.
DC: Are you going to be on the cover because I see that your pictures are all over the place or are you going to let someone else take the spotlight? LOL! Will your cover just be a mirror face? LOL!
Miko: I might be on the cover who knows, y’all think I could pull it off lol? Well, we shall see. I do have some dime pieces on my team however. Plenty of pretty faces to choose from. So nah, I won’t be selfish, I might need your face so please stay available sir!
DC: How will your book differ from others in the genre you chose to write in?
Miko: I intend for my book to touch your soul and bring out emotions you thought you may never have had. I want you to feel the character and cry , scream, laugh, and get angry when they do. I would love for people to relate to some surreal situations and circumstances. I just want it to feel real!
DC: How do you see your forum evolving in the next few years, and where do you see yourself as an author in that time as well? Will you be able to remain impartial?
Miko: Hopefully I can see it evolving from Facebook to a complete website with 1000 plus members. I can see myself becoming I well known and beloved author. Yes, I feel like I will definitely be able to remain impartial. It’s in my character to be fair and nonjudgmental.
DC: Do you think Urban Fiction has room to grow? And do you think that the self-publishing industry has made it worse for good authors to get noticed because there is a lot of sub par work being released?
Miko: Yes it’s always room to grow. Self-Publishing Industry is indeed growing rapidly, it can be hard for good authors to get recognition or recognized. However I am a firm believer in where there’s a will, there’s a way!
DC: If you had to give anyone pursuing a career in the publishing industry what would you say to them?
Miko: If it’s your dream, don’t give up! God gives everyone a gift, its up to you to let it manifest for all the world to see. Sharpen and develop your skills and be the best at your talent.
DC: This is my last question and it’s serious so answer honestly. Do you think that you really look better than me? Also, if you do would you be willing to give me the money to get a facial so I can at least have a fighting chance? Or maybe, buy me a nice watch so I can know what time I lost the upcoming beauty contest between you and me? LOL!
Miko: Well sweetheart, no man got no business looking better than a woman. LOL! Why, it’s because it would be only a matter of time before we be sharing eyeliner, lip gloss, and eye shadow, “AIN”T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!!!!” Kmsl
DC: Any last words of advice for your guest authors appearing on your forum?
Miko: Just know as my guest I do not discriminate, I do not participate in authors’ beefs. I feel it’s alot of money to be made out here. Let’s all get along and let’s get it. Most of all let’s have fun while doing so. I hope anyone who appears on my forum has a pleasant experience, and I look forward to watching everyone grow in the process.
In closing as to date Miko is hard at work promoting other authors work, and helping them to rise in the Urban Fiction Arena while diligently taking care of her family. You can contact her on FB, and iurban.org by clicking these icons below:
