Seth Ferranti the author…a man who knows how to thrive even in the bowels of the federal BOP

From Penthouse to Jailhouse, and back on top again. Gorilla Convict: Seth Ferranti is a light among the stars.  Unlike most inmates who sit around playing cards all day, and kicking the Bo Bo’s (Meaningless talk). Seth Ferranti took the underworld by storm and created a vivacious site called gorillaconvict.com.   Seth who is  known by the BOP (Bureau of Prisons) as  federal prisoner (register number) 18205-083, is the main  writer behind the Gorilla Convict site.

Yet amazingly, even from behind the brick and mortar walls of hell this man has used his creative talents  to educate and astound a captive audience (so-to-speak) on the outside. Yes, many of you have probably seen and heard a multitude of convoluted prison stories in your lifetime. Yet, Seth continues to live what many deem to be the  harsh life within its very walls. However, many of his peers would have to say that “Seth most definitely is not one who is new to this, but true to this…” in every faction possible; bringing you the raw, uncut, deal first hand. And, while many prisoners have simply laid down for the cause excepting their fates Seth, has taken a different route.

Educating himself, while adapting to life as a longtime felon, he chose to fight back in an elegant fashion, and has managed to tell his side of the story through published articles, books, and other publications despite what the media has portrayed him to be. Throughout his sentence he has managed to take on the brunt of harassment meted out by officials within the B.O.P. system. He has had to endure numerous shakedowns where officials have rummaged through his personal property confiscating items in order to frustrate, and discourage him from his path of success. He has also been subjugated  to serving disciplinary time  in the SHU (Segregated Housing Unit) without just cause. Has  been unlawfully excommunicated from the outside world, suffered denial of visitation, and endured the unlawful seizure of his personal property. nevertheless, he did not faint; but instead, continues to speak out by means of the power of the pen. Being  a rebel in the beginning by breaking the rules within the system (smoking marijuana, etc.), Seth soon came to realize that one day he would return to his family, and therefore decided to make a positive change. Not only did he become a spokesman on his own behalf, but he has become the voice of millions of prisoners throughout the states championing their cause, and at the same time he is educating the masses about both the positive and ugly sides of prison life.

black-handcuff-restraints For Seth, his long heartfelt journey began in 1993, after spending two years as a top-15 fugitive on the US Marshal’s most wanted list. Eventually he was captured by the US Marshalls, and sentenced by a federal judge to 304 months (25 years, and 4 months) under the then mandatory United States Sentencing Guideline (USSG, a Junior Varsity Congress) under Chapter 5, part A for being a LSD Kingpin whereas he committed to the custody of the Attorney General.  Being a first-time, non-violent offender, Ferranti has served 20 years of his 25-year mandatory minimum sentence. His case was widely covered by The Washington Post and Washington Times, and his story was profiled in the pages of Rolling Stone and Don Diva magazines. His current release date is January 27, 2015.

During his incarceration Ferranti has worked to better himself by making preparations for his eventual release back into society. Ferranti earned an AA degree from Penn State, his BA degree from the University of Iowa through correspondence courses, and Masters from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Along with his studies, Ferranti writes about the prison experience. Numerous widely known (street-jailhouse) magazines including “Don Diva, Slam“, “Vice“, “FHM“. “King“, “Feds“, “The Ave” have shown him love and support by publishing Seth’s articles. His work as a prison basketball journalist has led to international recognition in Spanish, French, Italian and Mexican magazines, and his articles on prison ballers appear on www.hoopshype.com and www.prisonerlife.com.

Although Seth doesn’t particularly write Urban Fiction, he does indeed write the elemental basis for the making of countless novels giving onlookers and fans the “Real” scoop on the underground culture educating his readers who choose not to live vicariously through the pages of highly exaggerated stories.

Stay tuned for my one on one interview with Seth coming later this week as he speaks out about his own experiences within the federal system and beyond. But until then, please share this article with others, and visit gorillaconvict.com where you can read more about Seth Ferranti, crime, criminals, and the ill effects of political society on those who struggle within the belly of the beast by clicking this onto this link… http://www.gorillaconvict.com/category/media/… We’ll be waiting patiently until next time.
