The Sum of My Mistakes .
The Sum of My Mistakes is a book cooking with all sorts of ingredients, and I’m not talking about chicken soup. I read the Dawn Forte urban novel with heightened interest, as she is a native of Plainfield, New Jersey — where I also grew up.
So, here is a question: What do you get when you when you start off cooking your story with lots of drama, add in an ex-porn star with a wild past, her rich womanizing boyfriend who’s a chef for taste, but has a troublesome past? Then when things start to get hot, throw in two psychotic lovers who are stalkers in the worst way imaginable. One is a sadistic female who is as cold as Jack Frost during a mid-winter blizzard, and the other looks hotter than Dante’s Inferno but is sicker than the flu.
Take all that, and then when your pot starts to boil over throw in a Police Officer with an adorable toddler who doesn’t fully understand the love triangle in which he has become a part of. it all adds up to a book that everyone will be talking about for years to come.
Yes, Dawn Forte lacks strength in a lot of areas I must say; albeit physical. However, if I was an ancient knight going into battle, and
my only weapon of choice to fight with was a golden pen, I must say that Dawn would be my Joan of Arc. As an authoress, Dawn writes with the flowing quality of a seasoned wordsmith. She delivers a page-turning story better than a slick mouth-famed politician. In many ways this story is very convincing, although there are a few instances in which some scenarios may appear to be a bit far-fetched (That’s why it’s called Urban-Fiction).
Nonetheless, the story does have plenty of examples how one or two simple mistakes can wreak the type of havoc many would never care to see. But her recipe for urban fiction is a great one for success.
If you are looking for drama, Dawn Forte’s The Sum of My Mistakes certainly delivers. It has more twists than taffy, and more turns than the steering wheel of a car travelling down an old road with sharp turns. Many of the characters have more skeletons in their closets than most houses during Halloween.
If any of you remember R-Kelly’s song Trapped in the Closet, this book has many similar intertwining elements among the characters , and they will leave you saying to yourself, “…wow.”
Definite thumbs up. My recommendation is, cop this book and you won’t be disappointed…dioncheese.com
